KS Injetados, a Parobé, RS-based supplier of materials for the footwear sector, has become the latest company to be certified by Origem Sustentável. This is the world’s only ESG certification program exclusively for companies in the footwear production chain. The Bronze-level recognition (achieving more than 20% of the program’s indicators) was presented on the 10th at the supplier’s headquarters, with both KS Injetados and the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal) leadership in attendance.

The company’s director, Gabriel Kieling Scalcon, said that sustainability has always been part of KS Injetados’ essence. “Since our founding in 2009, we have adopted practices that reflect our concern for the environment, such as the major use of recycled materials in our production processes. This choice, made in the company’s early years, was driven by both conviction and responsibility,” he said. Among the company’s notable projects, over 90% of the materials used in their production process are recycled. “This not only reduces our environmental impact but also contributes to the circular economy, ensuring that resources are efficiently reused while reducing costs for the business,” the director explained.

According to Scalcon, the certification process helped the company implement more efficient processes, which resulted in a significant reduction in waste and a continuous improvement of the production chain. “This not only generated cost savings but also strengthened our market reputation as a company committed to environmental responsibility. These actions have been fundamental in attracting clients who value sustainability,” he added.

Created by Assintecal in partnership with the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in 2013, the Origem Sustentável program is based on the best international sustainability practices. It follows the guidelines of 104 indicators across five dimensions: economic, environmental, social, cultural, and sustainability management. The certified categories are: Diamond (+80% of indicators achieved); Gold (+60%); Silver (+40%); and Bronze (+20%).
