Fimec, the raw materials trade show for the footwear industry in Novo Hamburgo, RS, was the stage for another recertification from Origem Sustentável, the world’s only ESG certification program for companies in the sector. The Gold-level recognition for JOMO was presented on the 18th, with the leadership of both the company and the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal) in attendance.

Founded in Germany in 1947, JOMO has been in Brazil for about three decades, during which it has prioritized combining sustainability and quality in its thermoformed and sewn products. The company’s work in developing materials for the footwear sector—insoles, uppers, technical parts, and packaging—is highlighted by the recycling of its industrial waste, campaigns for collecting bottle caps and plastic seals, and the correct disposal of electronics and cooking oil, among other actions.

On the occasion, JOMO’s CEO, Dagmar Luise Mohrbach, emphasized that in 2024, the highlight of their ESG actions was the co-creation of the EcoFoam Insole using scraps from the company Bibi. “With this partnership, we were able to achieve a significant volume of material that was transformed back into insoles.” According to her, the Origem Sustentável certification is more than just recognition; it is also a statement of the company’s commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility in the market. “With this recertification, we reaffirm our commitment to the future, with the mission of providing innovation, quality, and products with environmental responsibility and competitive cost to our clients,” she concluded.
