Hope and lightness after the darkness. This is the theme of the Human 2026_II inspiration research, whose materials will be presented to the public at the next edition of INSPIRAMAIS in São Paulo, SP. The research was first presented to companies on May 27 at the headquarters of the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal).
The coordinator of Assintecal’s Design and Research Hub, Walter Rodrigues, explained the study’s methodology, which considers the top (10% – research and development, where the Human research is), the middle (30% – where companies develop their strategies), and the base of the pyramid (60% – where the material becomes commercial). “For over 15 years, we have been developing this research to guide the creation of materials presented at INSPIRAMAIS, the largest design and fashion show for the raw materials industry for footwear, apparel, automotive, furniture, and jewelry in Latin America. After all, fashion is 50% inspiration and 50% business,” he commented.
Rodrigues explained that the Human research, with its central theme of Hope, expresses the urgency of moving out of the chaos of a turbulent period marked by wars and social and climate tragedies. “Hope is the yeast of revolution; it raises indicators that show us the paths to follow,” he said. In this context, the designer listed two sub-themes: Community and Utopia.
The first sub-theme, which is heavily influenced by dance (ballet), is characterized by materials that offer comfort and movement. This sub-theme includes suggestions for technological bases, elastic materials, transparencies, satins, and more. These are already appearing in designs from avant-garde international brands like Loewe, JW Anderson, Ferragamo, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Fendi.
The second sub-theme is Utopia, which offers a true sensory immersion with many prints, textures, lights that suggest speed, playful elements, surfaces with a glossy and shiny finish, and maximalist accessories—all with a pop and urban feel. In this context, Rodrigues cited the work of brands such as Staff Only, Chopovalowena, Anrealage, Feng Chen, Balmain, Saint Laurent, and Vaquera.
The presented research will now be applied by professionals from the Assintecal Design and Research Hub at interested factories. The research will be materialized and presented to the public at the 32nd edition of INSPIRAMAIS, which will take place at the Pro Magno Event Center in São Paulo, SP, on July 15 and 16.
