Primus Têxtil, a company with ten years of experience in Estância Velha/RS, received recertification on February 27th in Origem Sustentável, the only ESG practices certification program for companies in the footwear chain in the world. The award ceremony, which marked the evolution of the certification level – from Bronze to Silver – took place at the company’s headquarters and was attended by representatives of the Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear and Artifacts Components Companies (Assintecal) and the management of Primus Têxtil.

On the occasion, the managing partner of the company that supplies components for the footwear industry, Jaqueline Schmitz, highlighted the relevance of the certification. “Despite being small, Primus Têxtil communicates to customers, suppliers and all interested parties that our company is committed to the pillars of sustainability and that it seeks constant improvement in its processes for its healthy growth”. Among the highlights of the environmental initiatives adopted is waste control, with the co-processing of the material generated in production and sending the rest for recycling and also for reverse logistics with suppliers. “Also, our social actions, both with internal and external audiences, play an important role for our organization, contributing to the growth of our company and good relations with the community”, says Jaqueline.

The company

Primus Têxti supplies fashion fabrics, such as canvas, cotton, sustainable fabrics, jute, lurex, jeans with various washes and effects, as well as technical fabrics for reinforcements and applications in the production of footwear and bags. In addition to operating in the Brazilian market, the company exports to countries such as the United States, China, India, the Philippines and Spain.

The program

Created by Assintecal in partnership with the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association (Abicalçados) in 2013, Origem Sustentável is based on the best international sustainability practices, following the guidelines of 104 indicators distributed across five dimensions: economic, environmental, social, cultural and sustainability management. The certified categories are: Diamond (+80% of indicators achieved); Gold (+60%); Silver (+40%) and Bronze (+20%). Audits are carried out by independent bodies such as SENAI, SGS, ABNT, Intertek and Bureau Veritas. Currently, more than 100 companies in the footwear production chain are certified or are in the process of certification. Renewals occur every two years.
